My Nursing Philopsophy

As a nursing director, my philosophy centers on leadership that promotes excellence in patient care, supports professional growth, and fosters a culture of compassion and collaboration among healthcare teams.  I believe in:

  1. Patient-Centered Care: Prioritizing the holistic needs of patients by ensuring care is personalized, respectful, and aligned with their preferences and values.

  2. Ethical Practice: Upholding the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and accountability in every decision and action, fostering trust among patients, families, and colleagues.

  3. Team Empowerment: Supporting and developing nursing staff to reach their full potential through mentorship, education, and creating a supportive work environment where each member's contributions are valued.

  4. Evidence-Based Practice: Integrating the latest research and best practices into clinical decision-making to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care.

  5. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Promoting teamwork and communication across disciplines to achieve optimal patient outcomes, recognizing the value of diverse perspectives and expertise.

  6. Continuous Improvement: Committing to ongoing learning and innovation, adapting to changes in healthcare to continuously enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivery.

  7. Advocacy: Advocating for patients' rights, promoting health equity, and addressing social determinants of health to ensure all individuals receive equitable and compassionate care.

  8. Leadership by Example: Leading with empathy, resilience, and a commitment to servant leadership, inspiring and empowering others to excel in their roles and uphold our shared values.

By embracing these principles, I aim to create a nursing environment where excellence thrives, patients receive exceptional care, and our team feels empowered and fulfilled in their roles as healthcare professionals.

Values & Beliefs

Committing my values and beliefs to the written page has proven more challenging than I anticipated. This portfolio represents the culmination of many years of nursing practice and my completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Mississippi College School of Nursing. Throughout my career, I've grown to appreciate the complexity of my values and beliefs and their profound influence on my practice. Pursuing my BSN has not only expanded my professional capabilities but also strengthened my commitment to nursing leadership.

Honesty, integrity, ethical practice, accountability, and patient advocacy are the core values that define my personal and professional ethos. I strive daily to integrate these values into compassionate interactions with colleagues, patients, and their families, fostering a holistic, patient-centered approach. Each patient encounter presents a unique opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills to tailor their healthcare experience positively and respectfully.

My beliefs are anchored in the principles of Christianity, which serve as my moral compass and guide me in reflecting Christ’s love to all I encounter. These principles underpin my commitment to respecting human dignity and inform my approach to nursing, fostering compassion and humility in understanding the diverse spiritualities of those in my care.

I am dedicated to presenting the best version of myself every day, ensuring I provide individualized care that empowers patients to make informed healthcare decisions aligned with their values and preferences.
